Advancing evidence-based agricultural research to shape sustainable policies, improve rural livelihoods, and
support economic development across India.
The Agro Economic Research Centre (AERC), Pune, one of the oldest Agro Economic Research Centres in the country, was established in 1954 by the Union Ministry of Agriculture at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) with the objective of advancing rigorous, policy-oriented research to support India's agricultural and rural development. Guided by a long-standing vision to strengthen evidence-based decision-making in the agri-food and allied sectors, the Centre has, over the past seven decades, undertaken more than 200 comprehensive research studies for central and state governments and national institutions.
