For over a century, the Dhananjayarao Gadgil Library has been a trusted destination for learning, discovery, and knowledge sharing. Serving both academia and the wider community, it continues to preserve its rich legacy while embracing modern information access.

Founded in 1905

Established under the aegis of the Servants of India Society, with Gopal Krishna Gokhale among its founding members, the library has served as a center of knowledge and learning for over a century.

Academic & Public Library

Since 1930, the library has supported the academic community of GIPE while continuing its unique role as a public library, extending access to readers beyond the campus.

Extensive Social Science Collection

One of India's most significant social science libraries, housing books, journals, government publications, theses, dissertations, rare documents, and archival resources that support diverse learning needs.

Digital Access & Knowledge Resources

Combining heritage with technology, the library offers seamless access to its collections through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and DSpace@GIPE Institutional Repository, enabling users to explore bibliographic records, theses, dissertations, publications, and other digital resources anytime, anywhere.

Membership Fee is Non-Refundable. Library Deposit is refundable within three years of Membership Expiry. Foreign Nationals and NRIs will need to pay five times the regular membership fees.
