A glimpse into life at our campUS
Batch 2019-22As an alumnus of the first batch of B.Sc. Economics at Gokhale Institute, I was truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a prestigious institution. Being part of the first batch was a unique privilege. We were not just students; we were part of shaping the institute’s legacy. The foundation laid during those years has stayed with me, and I continue to draw on the skills, values, and memories from that time in my personal and professional life. The faculty was incredibly supportive, always encouraging us to embrace new ideas. The opportunity to pursue my Chartered Accountancy (CA) alongside my Economics degree is something few students get to experience, but the institute made it possible. My experience at Gokhale Institute was about growth, exploration, and building lifelong connections.
Batch 2019-22My time at GIPE, as a part of the very first B.Sc. Economics batch, was truly transformative. The approachable faculty and invaluable guidance from professors laid a strong foundation for my career, even as I ventured into a different field. Alongside a solid academic foundation, the institute fostered my growth beyond academics, with the theatre club and various other co-curricular activities standing out as highlights. I was fortunate to secure both a summer internship and a full-time job through the institute’s placement process. Learning French as a foreign language has been immensely helpful as I navigate life in Paris, and the fundamental economics knowledge that I gained at Gokhale has been incredibly beneficial in my studies at Sciences Po. The lifelong friendships and connections I made here are ones I’ll cherish forever, and Gokhale will always hold a special place in my journey.
Batch 2019-22As an alumnus of Gokhale Institute's first B.Sc. Economics batch, I feel privileged to have been part of such a pioneering journey. The institute not only provided a strong foundation in economics but also supported my growth and exploration beyond academics. Today, as I pursue my Master in Management with a double specialization in Finance and Sustainability at ESSEC Business School, I continue to rely on the skills, values, and connections I built during my time at Gokhale Institute.
Batch 2019-22Being part of the B.Sc. Economics program at Gokhale Institute was a pivotal chapter in my journey. My time there was enriched by a mix of academic rigor and extracurricular activities, such as my involvement in the drama club, which allowed me to explore my creative side and build confidence. Collaborating with professors as a research assistant helped me gain valuable insights into academic research, while the summer internships and final placement at Accenture—secured through the institute’s placement process—gave me a solid grounding in the corporate world. The blend of academic and professional exposure I received at GIPE laid a strong foundation for my career. Even now, as I pursue an MBA at IIT Delhi, the skills and knowledge I acquired at GIPE continue to guide me. I am deeply grateful to the institute’s supportive faculty and staff, who always encouraged us to strive for excellence. The friendships, experiences, and learnings from GIPE are invaluable, and they will always hold a special place in my journey.
Batch 2019-22Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics provided me with a strong foundation in economics and policy analysis, shaping my academic and professional journey. The coursework and emphasis on research prepared me for real-world challenges, enabling me to contribute effectively to roles in organizations like Athena Infonomics. My experience at GIPE, including working on projects like the Stanford Earth FUSE initiative, honed my analytical skills and deepened my understanding of development issues. The institute’s academic environment and faculty guidance inspired me to pursue graduate studies at Boston University. I am grateful to GIPE for equipping me with the tools to excel in my field.
Batch 2019-22I am deeply grateful for the experience I had at GIPE. The Institute fostered an environment that encouraged curiosity and critical thinking in various spheres of economic and political life that has continued to inspire me to learn more, as I completed my master’s in the same field and hope to pursue a doctorate in the same as well. Beyond academics, it was the friends I made and the mentorship I received that was truly transformational, and hence I owe much of my growth to the place.
Batch 2019-22Gokhale Institute has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of Economics and its allied disciplines. This comprehensive exposure not only broadened my knowledge base in economics, but also helped me discover my passion for a niche subject. The vibrant co-curricular activities and events provided excellent opportunities to network with peers and professors, fostering meaningful connections. The approachable, motivating, and supportive faculty were pivotal in my academic and personal growth. Their guidance, alongside the efforts of the placement committee, was invaluable in securing a job. The holistic curriculum, complemented by engaging clubs and events, made my undergraduate journey at Gokhale Institute both enriching and memorable.
Batch 2019-22My three years at GIPE were truly transformative for me, both academically and personally. We were given the platform to let our curiosities and interests drive our learning with the help of their supportive and approachable faculty. Despite the challenging academic workload, there were many clubs and societies and social events throughout the year, which gave you plenty of opportunities to also hone your extracurricular interests and make memorable memories with your fellow peers. Personally, it was here that I developed a deep interest in Environmental and Behavioural economics. I went on to finish a master's degree, took up an academic job focusing on these fields, and now am pursuing a Ph.D. in them. There is not a day that goes by without feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunities, support, and mentorship that I got here, as I simply would not be where I am today if not for my time at GIPE.
My years at Gokhale College were among the most rewarding of my life. They provided the foundation for lifelong learning, not just in economics, but also in the skills of research and study, which have proven to be far more valuable. I was fortunate to build meaningful connections with both faculty and peers, and to cultivate lifelong friendships. Gokhale also encouraged exploration and personal growth, shaping me into a better person. As I continue my journey at Boston University and beyond, I remain deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful institution, which serves as a constant reminder of my values and the lessons I carry with me.
Studying at Gokhale has been an incredibly enriching experience, filled with learning, growth, and meaningful connections. The undergraduate curriculum offered a wide range of courses on various topics, allowing me to deeply explore different aspects of economics and broaden my understanding of its true scope and impact. The faculty has been incredibly supportive, always encouraging curiosity and have provided guidance throughout the 3 years and beyond. I also had the chance to meet some amazing people along the way, making the experience even more special and would recommed Gokhale to anyone looking for a well-rounded education.
Attending GIPE has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. It’s inspiring to see the staff and officials embody the very values and principles that are taught to the students. My time there has encouraged independent thinking and personal growth shaping me into a better version of myself.
Gokhale Institute is a wonderful place for thinking minds to be in. The institute provided me access to serious and excellent mentorship that took genuine interest in my success and well-being while at the institute and even after. The institute also had a consistent stream of projects managed by the faculty on which we cut teeth and honed our skills. All the economics I learned at the institute has thus far held me in good stead. The campus hosted at least one scholar studying every sub-discipline in economics. Shared learning through public lectures and spillovers from conferences in and around the institute were a plus. The library hosts an enviable collection which was useful to scholars but also to us students. The coursework was not excessively heavy and even with mandatory attendance left enough time for flexible self-directed learning or co-curriculars. Colleagues at the institute are doing exceedingly well and their resounding success is in itself a testimony to the training and support we had at the institute. Life doesn't grant all mortals an equal chance of breathing in Pune, when offered one must consider it seriously.
Studying economics was a defining experience for me. The curriculum deepened my understanding of economic principles while sharpening my analytical and problem-solving skills. During this time, I discovered my interest in the technical side, particularly in data analysis and quantitative methods. This realization led me to pursue an advanced degree in analytics, bridging the gap between economic theory and data-driven decision-making. Today, as a Data Science Analyst, I apply these skills daily. The strong academic environment, faculty support, and exposure I received played a crucial role in shaping my career and continue to influence the way I approach complex problems.
